Now, 15 days are left to file the ITR. There are some taxpayers who have already filed income tax returns. Some of these people may have received a notice from the Income Tax Department.

If you are also one of those taxpayers who have received a notice from the Income Tax Department, then this article is for you. Today, we will know whether this notice from the Income Tax is real or fake. How can you identify it?

How to identify real or fake?

According to the Income Tax rules, if you get a notice from the department, then the DIN (Document Identification Number) number will be written in it. You can easily identify real or fake from the DIN number.

But the DIN number may also be fake, so what to do in such a situation?

How to check
If you want to confirm whether the DIN number is real or fake, then you can follow the steps given below.

Step 1- First of all, you have to go to the official website of Income Tax.

Step 2- Now, here you will find the Quick Link section. Click on it.

Step 3- Here, you have to click on Authenticate Notice / Order Issue by ITD.

Step 4- Now, enter the DIN number or PAN number given in your notice. After this, you have to enter the document type, assessment year, and mobile number.

Step 5- Then an OTP will come to your phone, enter it. Finally, you will know here whether the notice is real or fake.

Why should ITR be filed on time?

If the ITR is filed on time, then the taxpayer can avoid a heavy penalty. At the same time, mistakes made in haste also do not happen. By filing ITR on time, you can easily cross check every process, so that there is no problem in getting refund.

Apart from this, if you file ITR after the due date (15 September), then the interest on refund may also be reduced.
