PAN 2.0 was introduced by the Income Tax Department in India some time ago to make the PAN card system more advanced. Its purpose is to improve security and make the whole process more easy. It has the facility of e-PAN with a scannable QR code, which offers fast certification and reduces the chances of fraud related to PAN cards or its misuse.
The digital version of this e-PAN is available for free and you can get it immediately through email. Whereas the physical PAN card comes to the address given by you after paying a nominal fee. However, if you already have a regular PAN card that does not have a QR code, then it is still fully valid. That is, you don't need to update it.
Who issues PAN 2.0 or e-PAN?
For this, first of all, you have to know about the agency that issues your PAN. Let us tell you that PAN service in the country is provided through two authorized agencies. In this, Protean eGov Technologies Limited (NSDL) is at number one.
While the second agency is UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL). Now you have to check the back of your existing PAN card to find out which agency has issued this PAN card to you. You can apply accordingly.
How to apply for a PAN 2.0 card through Protean (NSDL)?
For this, first, go to the re-print website of Protean.
Now enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and date of birth.
Accept the declarations and click on “Submit”.
Verify the masked PAN details and select mobile/email/both to receive OTP.
Now you will get OTP, enter it, and verify it within 10 minutes.
After this go to the payment page, accept the terms, and pay the reprint fee of Rs 50.
After payment, you will get a receipt, and save it.
You can download your e-PAN after 24 hours.
The physical PAN card will reach your registered address within 15 to 20 days.
