New Delhi [India], September 16 (ANI): AIIMS Delhi has launched a mobile navigation app called AIIMS DISHA to help patients and visitors find their way inside the vast hospital complex, according to officials from the institute.
Dr Rima Dada, Professor of Anatomy and Media In-charge at AIIMS, said the app was launched on September 12 by AIIMS President and Union Health Minister J P Nadda.
Speaking exclusively to ANI, she said that the mobile application help patients and caregivers navigate the vast campus more easily.
"The DISHA app was launched by the president of the AIIMS Delhi and Union Health Minister JP Nadda on September 12. This app is like a Google map for inside the buildings. AIIMS is spread over a vast area...and it's very difficult for a person if they need to go from one centre to another... The patients and the caregivers find it difficult to reach a particular point. So this app is very useful," Dada said.

Explaining the features, Dr Rima said the app functions in both Hindi and English and uses Bluetooth low-energy-based beacons installed along hospital corridors.
"It operates both in Hindi and English. Along the corridors, we have Bluetooth low-energy-based beacons that can help you reach a particular room. It is based on AI... It even creates a heat map. If there is a crowd at a particular place, it will suggest the easiest point," she said

"Whether it is visiting the OPD room or the diagnostic centre or going to the pharmacy or visiting the billing counter, this system ensures that patients and visitors reach their destinations without confusion, stress, or delay."
Dr Rima said that new system guides patients and visitors smoothly through various sections of the hospital, ensuring they reach destinations without confusion, stress, or delay.
