Son Of Sardaar OTT release update: When and where to watch Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur's comedy movie after theatrical run

Following the performance of Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's comedy sequel Son of Sardaar 2 at the box office, the film is all set to make its digital debut soon. The movie hit theatres on August 1, 2025, more than a decade after the original. The sequel brings back Ajay Devgn’s character, Jassi, in a new avatar. However, the film struggled at the box office, especially with the blockbuster release Saiyaara dominating screens.

If reports are to be believed, according to a report by 123Telugu, the Ajay Devgn-starrer is expected to release on OTT on September 26, 2025, following the standard eight-week window after its theatrical release. Netflix has secured the digital streaming rights, as confirmed in the end credits of Son of Sardaar 2. However, we are still waiting for an official release date announcement.


For the unversed, Son of Sardaar 2 picks up where the first film left off, following Jassi (played by Ajay Devgn) as he travels to Scotland and finds himself caught in fresh trouble. The movie blends action, comedy, and romance, filled with humorous moments and sharp one-liners. The cast also features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, and more.

According to Sacnilk.com, Son of Sardaar 2 earned around Rs 45.6 crore net in India after 15 days at the box office. It had a strong opening, collecting Rs 7.25 crore on day one and Rs 24.75 crore over the opening weekend. However, collections dropped significantly during the weekdays. Overall, the global box office total fell short of the film’s budget.

The film also faced tough competition at the box office, releasing alongside several other high-profile movies like Dhadak 2 (starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri), Kingdom featuring Vijay Deverakonda, and Mahavatar Narsimha. With multiple releases, audience attention was divided, impacting the film’s performance. Adding to the challenge, Saiyaara became a massive global hit, earning over Rs 500 crore, making the competition even tougher. For those unaware, Saiyaara is also reportedly set to arrive on Netflix this week.


The film was directed by renowned cinematographer Vijay Kumar Arora, with Mrunal Thakur playing the female lead. It was jointly produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Devgn Films and Jio Studios. The ensemble cast also includes Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, and Chunky Panday in key roles. Son of Sardaar 2 also marks the final on-screen appearance of Mukul Dev.
