Watch video: Satara woman constable dragged by autorickshaw while stopping drunk driver

A woman constable in Satara was injured on Monday evening after being dragged by an autorickshaw while attempting to stop its driver, who was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. The incident, which occurred around 5 pm on Market Yard Road, was captured on CCTV cameras.

According to police, constable Bhagyashri Jadhav noticed the autorickshaw being driven erratically with passengers inside. When she tried to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly pushed her. As she fell, her raincoat got caught under the rear wheel, and she was dragged for several meters before bystanders intervened and forced the driver to stop.

An officer from Satara City police station, where the case was registered, said, “The 25-year-old constable is receiving treatment. She has sustained multiple injuries on her body. We have detained the driver and sent him for a medical check-up. We will record the statement of the constable after her condition is stable.”



Satara Police Inspector Rajendra Mhaske told ANI, “At 5 pm yesterday, a woman constable was on duty. She got the information that an auto driver was drunk and had fled after running over two to three people. She went after him after receiving the information. He then grabbed her hand and dragged her. She is seriously injured. We have arrested the auto driver and filed a case against him.”
