Zubeen Garg's bandmate Partha Pritam Goswami has accused Siddharth Sharma, the singer's manager and fellow band member Shekhar Jyoti Goswami of negligence and carelessness following the his mysterious death in Singapore.
Goswami criticised the two of drinking and all night, adding that they did not allow Garg to sleep despite knowing that he is a seizures patient. He also accused them of taking the star for swimming.
"The greatest negligence and carelessness were on the part of Siddharth (Zubeen Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma) and Shekhar (bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami). You two, who stay close to Zubeen like shadows, brought someone who hadn’t slept and had been drinking and partying all night to swim in the sea, fully aware that Zubeen is a seizure patient. How could you do that?,” Partha Pratim Goswami told the media following his CID questioning.
“You didn’t let him sleep and insisted on taking him to the sea just because you wanted to have fun. I will never forgive them for this reckless mistake for as long as I live,” he added.
The Zubeen Garg death case
A total of four people have been arrested in connection with the case so far. These include Siddharth Sharma, the singer’s manager; Shyamkanu Mahanta, the event organiser; bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami; and musician Amritprava Mahanta. Murder charges have now been filed against them.
Zubeen Garg, renowned for his Bollywood and Assamese songs, died on September 19 while swimming near an island in Singapore. He was on a yacht outing accompanied by Goswami and Mahanta at the time.
The singer was in Singapore to perform at the North East India Festival, which was organised by Mahanta and his company.
Additionally, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Sunday also summoned two prominent figures from Assam’s entertainment industry, actor Vaishali Medhi and singer Meghna Borpuzari, for questioning.
According to SIT's detailed arrest report, has made serious allegations against Garg’s manager, citing suspicious behaviour in the hours leading up to the singer’s death.
Goswami alleged that Sharma, who was staying with Garg at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore, acted oddly before the tragic incident.
