When will Harchhath fast be kept?

According to the Vedic calendar, Shashthi Tithi will start on August 14 at around 04:23 am. It will end on August 15 at around 02:07 am. According to the Hindu calendar, this year, Harchhath fast is on August 14. Harchhath fast is kept before the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, i.e., Janmashtami.

What to eat during the fast
On this day, only the things grown in the pond are eaten. In Har Chhath fast, things made from cow's milk or things grown in the field by ploughing are not eaten. Tamasic food, like onion and garlic, etc., should not be consumed. Cow's milk, curd, or ghee should not be used during this fast.

On this day, fasting women do not eat any grain. Women keep fast after taking a bath and using a toothpick from the branch of the Mahua tree. The material for this worship includes rice grown from the land without ploughing, Mahua leaves, paddy leaves, buffalo milk-curd, and ghee,.
