Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh): A bridge on the Sheopur–Sawai Madhopur road near Jetpur-Bodal collapsed on Wednesday due to continuous heavy rainfall, cutting off road connectivity between Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district and Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur, Kota, and Baran.
The Parvati river has also risen above bridge level, further blocking routes and worsening the flood situation.
For the past two days, Sheopur has been battered by relentless rain, causing rivers like Seep, Parvati, and Chambal to overflow and flood many villages.
Locals say the current situation is bringing back memories of the devastating floods that struck four years ago.

In Sheopur, rivers like Seep, Parvati, and Chambal are overflowing, flooding several villages. Locals say the scenes are reminding them of the devastating floods that occurred four years ago.
The administration has shifted people to relief camps set up at Ram Dharmshala and Nagar Palika Marriage Garden, where food and shelter are being provided.
Vijaypur tehsil is severely affected, with the Kuwari river flowing above danger level. The upper bridge is submerged under 3 feet of water, and areas like Ransingh Colony and Kothari Palace have witnessed water entering homes and shops. Roads near the Super Market have caved in, and parts of a bridge railing and an electric pole have been washed away.
In Baroda town, the situation is grim. Streets and markets are submerged under 4–5 feet of water, and local health centres appear like swimming pools. In village Radep, a house collapsed, but fortunately, no one was inside.

Floodwaters have also entered homes in Baroda and Iklaud villages, washing away household items. Roads in Vijaypur are underwater, and the Sunwai trisection now resembles a pond.
Travellers heading from Sawai Madhopur to Sheopur have been warned, as the Bodal Ugala bridge has collapsed, and the road is completely closed.
In view of the situation, all schools and Anganwadis in the district have been shut for two days. The district Collector is actively visiting the affected areas, even at night, to monitor the situation closely.
