turned tense as Paul Laidlaw "sabotaged" his co-star's chances at coming out on top at auction. In a previous episode of the BBC programme, Paul headed on the road with Margie Cooper, hunting for hidden treasures in York.
The pair then headed to an auction in Darlington, with Paul enjoying a streak of success with his antique finds. Meanwhile, Margie faced a setback when her gilt bronze figurine, initially worth £40, only secured a disappointing £30 at auction, resulting in a £10 loss.
Both auctioneers were taken aback when the elegant figurine failed to meet its expected reserve price, leaving everyone puzzled.
Following the underwhelming bids, Paul questioned where the online bidders were. Upon the final hammer blow, he remarked: "Margie, what happened there?"
Narrating the programme, Tim Wonnacott remarked: "Such a pity eh? But plenty more to go, Margie."
In a light-hearted attempt to defuse the tension, Paul admitted: "I mean, in fairness I did start a rumour around the room that it was made of plastic."
He added: "But I thought they'd see the humour in it!"
Margie responded to the flop by dejectedly burying her face in her hands.
She did end on a high note however, as her last minute purchase - a writing desk bought just before the auction at slightly over £30 - unexpectedly turned her luck around as it fetched a remarkable £65, leaving her thrilled.

Despite pushing through the auction, Margie failed to surpass Paul's impressive run. The expert's unexpected small pot earned him over £50 in profit, leaving Margie utterly astounded.
In the end, Paul triumphed in the day's proceedings, amassing an impressive £140 in total.
The following day, Margie issued Paul a warning as they continued their travels across the country. Cruising along, Paul remarked: "Fixed the weather, Margie. This is... what a difference a day makes, I think is the expression."
"Absolutely. Are you comfortable?," queried Margie as her co-star quipped: "Do you know? I like being driven. And by you, Margie."
Margie beamed: "Driven well." But Paul's next tease took her aback as he declared: "Driven crazy!" Margie retorted with a serious warning for her co-star: "One more word and you walk!"
