Benjamin Sesko has revealed that his heart was always set on a move to Manchester United, despite interest from other Premier League clubs. The Slovenian international joined the Red Devils in a summer transfer window that saw them spend £200million on their forward line, including Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
Despite Newcastle making the first move for the former RB Leipzig star, it was United who secured his signature for £74million. Arsenal were also linked with the striker throughout the summer, but failed to reach an agreement, instead shifting their focus to Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres. For Sesko, the opportunity to help turn around United's fortunes was too good to pass up.
Despite a slow start, he has now scored two goals in his last two starts and is thrilled with his decision.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Sesko said: "It's not just mine, but probably for loads of football players, it's just a dream. Something that you want to achieve in your career, especially to play for a club like that.
"When I heard that I can move here and there are big possibilities that I can change clubs, especially to United, I was burning. It's something that I always wanted to have. It happened and I'm really happy."
When asked if Manchester United was his only choice, Sesko responded: "Yeah. For me, this was a dream to play for a club like this and a stadium like this. It's something that I always wanted."
Despite showing promise, Sesko was only named as a substitute in last weekend's 2-1 triumph over Liverpool. Ruben Amorim suggested it was a strategic move to secure victory over the Premier League champions.
He elaborated: "Cunha returning to the team - I think he's one player who has one characteristic that can help us to push the team forward.
"I think [Ibrahim] Konate and [Virgil] van Dijk likes the confrontation in the air. So we'll try to give them different things to try to win the game."
Sesko is hopeful of making a comeback against Brighton, especially with Mason Mount's participation in doubt.
The Red Devils have not managed to beat the Seagulls at home since 2022, presenting another opportunity to demonstrate their progress under Amorim.
