Stormy weather could cause chaos in regions across the UK in a matter of days, as drizzly conditions replace scorching heatwave temperatures. It's been a summer of disruptive and changeable forecasts, with four heatwaves contrasting with storms and strong winds, including those ushered across the country by Storm Floris earlier this month. The unpredictable climate will persist throughout August, according to weather maps from WXCharts, with heavy rainfall expected across 23 regions in the penultimate week of the month.
The wet and windy front is forecast to move across the UK on Saturday, August 23, pelting the country with downpours of up to 25mm per hour by 6pm. It will predominantly impact northwestern Scotland and the coast of southwest England, with rain expected to start falling at midnight on August 23, before growing in intensity by the hour.

The rainy front will cause the most disruption in western Scotland and southwest England, with a stretch of the country, from Cheshire down to Norfolk drenched from midnight on August 23.
The Met Office's long-range forecast from August 16 to August 25 has also warned of outbreaks of rain across the UK, with thundery showers offering relief from very hot and dry spells, especially in the south.
BBC Weather similarly cautioned that Atlantic frontal systems could spell trouble for northern areas, particularly Scotland, towards the end of the month, with "less warmth overall", especially in the east and north.
