Once home to the Brontë sisters, stepping into this West Yorkshire village feels like walking straight into a novel or period drama. It's the perfect place to go if you enjoy history and literature but it is also filled with lovely coffee shops, cobbled streets, independent shops and stunning views of the countryside. Haworth is around 182 miles from the Cotswolds, yet it shares that same timeless beauty, with cobblestone lanes and honey-hued stone buildings that feel frozen in time.
At the heart of the village is the Brontë Parsonage Museum, the former home of the Brontë family. It's here that some of the most iconic novels in English literature were penned including Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, and today it brings thousands of visitors each year who come to walk in the footsteps of the literary sisters.
Haworth's steep, winding main street is a highlight in itself and the village is filled with characterful shops, tearooms, and historic pubs.
Among some of the favourite stops is The Cabinet of Curiosity, a shop filled with vintage finds and seasonal displays, Mrs Beighton's Sweet Shop, the oldest sweet shop in England, and the original Brontë Stationery Store where the literary sisters even once bought their writing paper.
The village sits on the edge of the Pennines, a range of rolling hills and dramatic moorland often referred to as the "backbone of England" and offers incredible views of the surrounding landscapes.
It's no wonder people have started comparing Haworth to Stars Hollow, the fictional small town from the American TV show, Gilmore Girls. In autumn, local shops decorate their storefronts with pumpkins, leaves and fairy lights, creating an even more magical and fairytale like atmosphere.
Lots of visitors have also said it's a great place to visit in the autumn, with the golden leaves, cosy coffee shops, and cobbled streets making it feel extra magical.

One TikTokker, ssgbooktok, said it's the "perfect place to visit in autumn and even more so if you like literature and history" with "plenty of bookshops and cafes."
Another content creator, diariesofmlb, called it the "perfect autumn and winter spot in Yorkshire."
One person wrote also about the village on TripAdvisor: "Fan of the Bronte sisters? Or simply someone who is looking for an unspoilt, wild, beautiful and timeless place, packed with history and incredible landscapes: Haworth IS the town for you. I do my pilgrimage twice a year there and cannot be bored as there always is something to do or see...
"Even the casual tourist waves cannot spoil this trip. Whatever the weather (windy and wet, like in Wuthering Heights; or sunny for a delightful walk on the moors) or the season, everyone in Haworth is welcoming and make you feel part of the community (from the Parsonage shop assistant to the receptionist in the Old White Lion pub, passing by the Red Bull's barman or the Villette café's baker)."
