Itanagar: Incoming cargo operations officially started at Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar, via the passenger terminal on Thursday, marking a milestone in Arunachal Pradesh's connectivity journey, reports Joken Ete.
The inbound cargo services by IndiGo began on Thursday, with outbound operations set to start shortly, chief minister Pema Khandu wrote on a social media post. The start of the services will ensure faster delivery of essential goods, parcels and business consignments directly to Itanagar. It will support local traders and entrepreneurs with quicker, cost-effective logistics, he said.
Khandu said the start of the services will result in improved access to medical supplies, enhancing emergency healthcare response and convenience for passengers who can now receive cargo during their travel. It will give a boost to the local economy through efficient supply chain operations, reduce dependence on road transport — especially during monsoons — and enhance multimodal connectivity, positioning Donyi Poli Airport as a key logistics hub.
