KOTA: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by nine youngsters behind a wedding venue in a village under Aklera police station in Jhalawar district Tuesday night.
After returning home, the minor survivor recounted the incident to her parents and accompanied them to Aklera police station Wednesday morning to file a report against the accused.
Acting swiftly on the report lodged by the minor survivor, police detained the nine accused and are presently interrogating them. However, police are yet to verify their age.
According to Bhupesh Kumar, circle inspector at Aklera police station, the minor stated in the report that she went to attend the wedding ceremony of a friend's friend in a nearby village late Tuesday evening. While out in an open agriculture field behind the wedding venue some youngsters who were already present there allegedly grabbed her and took her to an isolated place and raped her.
Following the report, police filed a case of gang rape under relevant sections of the BNS and POCSO Act against the nine identified accused from the same village, initiated a search, and sent the minor survivor to SRG hospital for medical examination.
An FSL team was sent to the scene to collect evidence. The minor survivor reportedly knew some of the accused.
