The hot topic of this debate that is going viral by the minute is who would win in a fight with 100 men VS 1 gorilla . The idea was posted on X by @DreamChasnMike who wrote, "i think 100 n***as could beat 1 gorilla everybody just gotta be dedicated to the shitšš" Since then the post has received a shocking 217.2M views with 7.6K comments and 190K likes, which are increasing as I write this. The debate has gone viral, sparking discussions on ESPN and prompting popular YouTuber MrBeast, known for his unique experiments, to comment on the topic, wondering if he should test it.
Netizens could not help but ponder upon the opinion with each having their own thoughts about the end result of the fight. While many have been claiming that the gorilla would win the fight, others seem to think a hundred men would be enough to defeat one gorilla.
Some X users are of the confidence that the skill and minds of a 100 men would definitely be able to defeat one gorilla. "Our ancestors did hunt saber tooth tigers" wrote a user on X. "This 100 men vs 1 gorilla discourse is killing me man. Cuz all this stems from the fact that people just donāt realize how big of a number 100 is. Just count 1 to 100 slowly rn. 30-40 is enough to handle a gorilla" added another.

Itās very simple. If all 100 attack in one wave itās possible 30 die but the men grab all limbs and win by suffocation

If any waves hesitate the gorilla easily kills 10-20 in half a minute and then itās a landslide to the gorilla

Others are unable to understand how people don't realise that a wild silverback gorilla is an animal who will remain undefeated. "The 100 guys won't surely come out of the fight the same Broken bones everywhere is certain " and ""Ugandans are silent about the whole Gorilla vs. 100 people discourse because weāre home to more than 50% of the worldās mountain gorillas and we know who would win that fight." commented people.

Many on X have been mentioning how men not ready to accept that they would be defeated by a gorilla are presenting a slice of the existing toxic masculinity. "lmao i donāt mean to have discourse this early but this ā100 men vs. a silverback gorillaā debate going around right now really highlights the hubris at the heart of toxic masculinity." wrote a woman on X, adding, "i think itās less about strength or strategy and more about the fear that admitting defeat, even to something vastly stronger, would somehow threaten their sense of masculinity. because lord knows a silverback gorilla would rock a 100 men lol"
Can 100 men actually defeat one gorilla?
A Silverback gorilla is stronger than 20 adults combined. While they can lift up to 815 kg of weight, a well-trained man can only lift up to 400 kg. They have a bite force of 1,300 PSI (pounds per square inch). All of this combines to substantiate the fact that not even a hundred men would be able to defeat a wild silverback gorilla.
The origin of the meme
While it may have been trending right now, the 100 men vs 1 gorilla meme finds its origin back in 2022 when the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers and CBS News reported a day later that the Ravens locker room had an interesting debate on who would win in a battle of 100 humans and one gorilla.
