On September 27, the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump shared an allegedly AI-generated video of himself promoting a "medbed"- a cure-all bed, considered to be a medical conspiracy theory. In the video posted on his social media platform Truth Social, a Fox News clip, purportedly from Fox's My View with Lara Trump appeared where he could be seen rolling out the magic technology to hospitals worldwide.
“Every American will soon receive their own medbed card,” AI Trump said. “With it, you’ll have guaranteed access to our new hospitals led by the top doctors in the nation, equipped with the most advanced technology in the world.”
“These facilities are safe, modern, and designed to restore every citizen to full health and strength,” he added. “This is the beginning of a new era in American healthcare.”
What are these med beds? Will they really transform the future of America or remain a modern myth that MAGA supporters are wishing upon to come true? Find out below!
What are Med beds?
"Med beds" is a conspiracy theory that has spread far and wide through far-right QAnon circles. For years, the theory has promoted that the U.S. military is in possession of technology in the form of magic "med beds" which can cure any disease and extend human life. Allegedly, they can even regrow missing limbs within minutes, something that even science and doctors have yet to accomplish.
According to the theory, liberal billionaires have been keeping these transformative beds from reaching the public and as per what Trump seems to be signalling, they would not be available widely until he came into office.
What's surprising and troubling is that there exists a section of people who believe that these beds exist and think of Trump as the icon who will really make them reach the public. In 2021, a QAnon follower on Telegram even wrote an open letter to Trump begging the then-citizen to release medbeds to help his wife who was suffering from an autoimmune disease.
Med beds: The modern myths
The spread of the conspiracy theory and the firm belief of Trump supporters that he will be able to release med beds to the public, is a glaring example of how politicians make use of situations oppressing the public to gain support and valour. It is important to maintain a healthy differentiation between reality and dreams, even when promised by prominent public figures. While health innovations have been paving an unimaginable way to the future, "medbeds" remain what they have for years- a conspiracy theory and now- a modern myth.

A video was posted to his TS account, clearly fake A.I., of him announcing “Med Beds” to the world. Then it was deleted. Go figure. pic.twitter.com/PsgEgxwB4S
