Carolina Hurricanes dominate injured New Jersey Devils

Send Push

The Carolina Hurricanes once again proved the mettle of one of the league's best teams. On Monday night, they took on the New Jersey Devils , who had several key players injured. It was clear right from the beginning that the Devils could not match Carolina's speed and power. Hockey commentator Mike P. Johnson even went so far as to call Carolina the worst team to play when your defence is bad. The game proved it.

Carolina Hurricanes beat injured Devils with strong team playThe Devils played a very tough game because so many of their most important players were injured. Missing key defensemen made it that much harder for them to defend their net. When your defence is bad in hockey, it is extremely easy for the other team to have opportunities and score. The Devils tried their best, but with their whole lineup missing, they could not shut out the Hurricanes.

Carolina just kept pushing and making smart plays all over the ice. The Devils could not keep up with their pace and strength. Even when New Jersey had control of the puck, they could not bring it up because the Hurricanes players were harassing them so much. Carolina appeared to be one step ahead the whole game.

The Devils' goalie also labored very hard that evening. He faced a great number of shots and did everything in his power to make the game close. But if the defence is depleted of its star players, it is nearly impossible to keep at bay a talented team like the Hurricanes. New Jersey was without the good sense and guidance of their injured players , and it showed.

Carolina hurricanes prove why they are so hard to beatThe Hurricanes are quick, smart, and very defensive and attack-minded. They make it very hard for other teams to possess good scoring chances. If a team is healthy and in good shape, it is already hard to beat Carolina. But when a team like the Devils has some important players out due to illness or injury, then it is almost impossible.

The Canes used their strength very well. They won puck battles, blocked shots, and made quick passes that confused the Devils. New Jersey could never get started, never build an attack, as Carolina shut down every one of them. It was a team effort, and it showed how dangerous the Hurricanes are when they play their best game.

Mike P. Johnson was right in his comment. It is perhaps one of the toughest things to do in hockey, playing against the Hurricanes when your bench is not that deep. They force you to battle for every inch of ice real estate, and if you mess up, they turn it into a goal in an instant.
