Revisiting Lando Norris' first F1 win at Miami Grand Prix, where he shared podium with Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc — see photos and video

It’s been a year since McLaren driver Lando Norris ’ first Formula 1 victory at the Miami Grand Prix last year. The much-awaited win came after 110 races for Norris , who is currently competing among the top brigade and can easily lay a claim at the world championship with many more races to go. On the occasion, Formula 1 has shared a series of pictures from Norris’ special moment, featuring the other two podium winners as well, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

The X handle of Formula 1 also shared a video of how Norris celebrated his victory, with hugs from other F1 drivers and the papaya team. The video was captioned: “At his 110th attempt, @LandoNorris finally claimed that elusive first victory in Miami!”


Verstappen came second while Leclerc came third in the Miami race last year. Norris had said after his first F1 win, as per F1miamigp.com, “What a race! It’s been a long time coming but we’ve finally managed to do it and deliver for the McLaren team. I knew on Friday we had the pace and today we put together the perfect strategy and it paid off. This is for my team, I’m proud that we’ve put it all together. I’m finally on top and over the moon!”


Norris is 25 and has five F1 wins under his belt, including one this season, at the Australian Grand Prix. Norris is currently trying to regain his winning form while his teammate Oscar Piastri is dominating with three wins in five races. He is already close by coming fourth in the last race in Jeddah, at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Norris is currently second in the F1 Driver Standings, after Piastri, with 89 points.

The Miami Grand Prix also has the season’s second F1 sprint along with the main race. It is scheduled to take place from May 2-4.
