NEW DELHI: Stating that every Indian citizen was pained at the loss of 27 innocent lives in the Pahalgam terror attack , home minister Amit Shah on Thursday warned the perpetrators that they will be hunted down one by one, given a befitting reply and made answerable for their "cowardly" act.
"The Pahalgam attackers should not be under the false impression that they have scored a big victory by killing 27 of our citizens, If someone sees this cowardly strike as a big win, they should know that it is the Modi govt they are dealing with....nobody will be spared," Shah said while addressing an event to name a road here after the iconic Bodo leader Bodofa Upendranath Brahma.
"I want to tell terrorists that this is not the end of the fight but only a turning point...each of them will be hunted down, given a befitting reply and held accountable," thundered Shah.
The road-naming event -- which started with the participants paying homage to the 27 victims of Pahalgam terror attack -- was attended by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Promod Boro and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj.
Shah said every Indian felt the pain and loss of the families of Pahalgam attack victims, and wanted to "vent" it.
He said: "I want to tell the people of India that the Modi govt has followed a zero-tolerance policy against those engaging in terror activities in Kashmir since the Nineties. We have fought our battle firmly. Today, they (terrorists) should not be under the false impression that they have won the battle by killing 27 of our citizens."
Underlining that the Modi govt has resolutely fought insurgency in the northeast, Left wing extremism and the shadow of terror in Kashmir, Shah said "it is our resolve to uproot terrorism from every inch of the country and we shall fulfil it".
He underlined that 140 Indians were not alone in this war, but had the whole world standing with them. "All countries are united in supporting us in this battle," he said.
The home minister reiterated the govt's resolve to continue its fight till terrorism is fully eliminated.
